  • Tainted World by Ashley Fontainne

This is book 4 in The Rememdium Series. I highly recommend enjoying the rest of the series first. Ashley Fontainne starts the series out before the outbreak happens. No surprise here, but man caused it all. Our own greed caused our downfall. Drugs tainted with a fungal infection infected anyone who used it, killing them and reanimating them into zombies. Even worse, the infection has crossed species infecting animals as well. In this book, they finally manage to find a cure, only for it to be destroyed by greed once again. The whole series if full of zombie action! It's an excellent series that's a bit different from others I've enjoyed. Rebecca Roberts does a wonderful job with the narration. The voices and accents were perfect!

  • The Ruins book 4 by T.W. Piperbrook

Bray, Kirby, and William are still trapped in New City under the control of the Gifted. The Gifted are trying to make William one of their own but secretly he hates them and is planning to escape and free his friends who are being forced to work as slaves. Meanwhile, Kirby and Bray and planning a revolt with a group of other slaves who call themselves the shadow people. They would have to take out the guards and the plagued ones before they could even reach the tower to kill the Gifted and rescue William.

I am truly sad to see this series end. The first series, The Last Survivors, and this series, The Ruins, have been one of the best post-apocalyptic series I've listened to. I've been a fan since book one! Seeing the series end is like saying goodbye to a friend. I'm glad that Tyler Piperbrook left the ending open to the possibility of something more in the future. I'm looking forward to his future books. If they're as good as this, I'll love it! Sean Runnette has done an amazing job with both series. I'm glad the author kept this great talent throughout both series!

  • Treaters by CJ Rutherford

Great post-apocalyptic book! Almost biblically apocalyptic! I couldn't put this book down! The end of the world came on Halloween night! Instead of the typical zombie story, the Treaters are demonic beings that want to rid the planet of life. Jaz, a retired Marine, and Jennifer, a waitress, and Tray, the dog, set off to find a safe place to live out the end of days. As with any great post-apocalyptic story, the dog plays a very important part. There is no better companion to have that would do anything to protect it's human! There's a bit of romance in the story between Jaz and Jennifer, but nothing inappropriate for a younger reader. I won't ruin the ending, but it was a twist I didn't see coming! I can't wait for book 2! This is the second series I've enjoyed by CJ Ruherford. Great author with a great imagination. Michael and Kelly Ables are new to me. I really enjoyed their narration, especially Michael. He expresses the emotions beautifully!

  • Thinning The Herd: The Ophir Ridge Saga Book One (Kindle Edition) by fellow Feend Rob Turnbull

A sweet take on the Apocalypse with the infected hordes set up as crazies. The author has some interesting happenings including: poisoning death by ruptured silicon breast implants; prison staffer and inmates teaming up to survive; and the hapless main character who survives at first through sheer panic and desperation. Some toilet humor and plenty of the requisite slashing and bashing and stabbing and shooting to keep the zombie apocalypse fan satisfied.

    Worth a look, zombie fans!!

  • Infected (Click Your Poison #1) by James Schannep https://www.amazon.com/Infected-Click-Your-Poison-1/dp/1479352837

A world of fun. The return to the choose your own adventure books of my childhood was welcome, especially with the adult content of this book. It was "replayable"; many times the consequences are, well, deadly, mirroring what might actually happen.

The optional Group game rules and book club questions at the back extend the fun. More! I want more!!

  • https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30976258-wolves Four stars. Wonderful post apocalyptic western but not for the faint hearted. Some mistakes with tense (which an editor should have corrected, not the author’s fault) were the only negative. I could not put this book down.

  • Doomsday's Child by Pete Aldin
    https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2258408427
've read a lot of post-apocalyptic and dystopian books and I would rank Pete Aldrin's Doomsday's Child in the top tier with J.L. Bourne's Day-by-Day Armageddon, Keith Blackmore's Mountain Man, and David Simpson's Zombie Road. Not to detract from the very solid plot and on-spot pacing, but what particularly stood out for me with Pete's book was the relationship between his two protagonists, Elliot and Lewis: It was special, it was genuine, and it surprised the hell out of me with how easily it carried the story along with it. I really enjoyed Doomsday's Child, started it before going to sleep, the Kindle the only light on in the bedroom. Next thing I know, my eyes are super tired and it's 3 am. That's how you know a book rocks, when you don't want it to end. I had to force myself to leave off at 90% so that there would be enough to read later that day. Then I was tired all day because I barely got any sleep, but it was definitely worth it because here I am two days later still thinking about the journey that and Elliot and Lewis took. I highly recommend Doomsday's Child.

  • Collateral Damage (Up From the Depths #3) by JR Jackson
    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34373018-collateral-damage
I've been enjoying this series, but I truly loved this installment. The author hits all the marks with action aplenty, interesting character interplay, and some really imaginative scenes (the scene at the "market" my favorite from the series). His military background shines through strongly in the constant "gun porn" (lol: the description and use of a variety of interesting weapons) and the level of realistic detail throughout. A novel and a series well worth the time and $$. Five stars.

  • The Orphans: Origins by Mike Evans

Most zombie books start out just before or just after the outbreak not giving you too much of a back story and go straight to the zombies. Mike Evans does not do that with this book. He gives plenty of back story for the characters and how the outbreak happened, which is a very realistic possibility of how it could happen, if it ever did. I kept telling myself "this is where it will happen", but was wrong almost everytime! Eventually I was right lol. It definitely wasn't predictable or rushed! You get to know each of the characters and what they are like before the outbreak. Don't worry though, there is plenty of zombie action, and it's great! I'm looking forward to the rest of this series! My only constructive criticism is for the narrator. He was very slow and almost boring at times. This book was highly recommend by a friend so I kept going. I hate speeding up a book, but I found 1.2x speed was a huge improvement for this narrator.
